Shopify import error: "Ignored line because it did not contain product data"

What it means: The first row of a product has a URL handle but no Title. Shopify only creates a product from a row with a title, so it skips the line. This is expected when you overwrite products that already exist, and a problem when the products are new.

How to fix it

  1. Put the product title on the first row of each listed product.
  2. Check that the rows were not re-sorted so that a variant row ended up first.

What the checker says about it

  • Line 2: The first row for "no-title-tee" (line 2) has no Title. Shopify will report "Ignored line 2 because it did not contain product data" unless the product already exists and you are overwriting it.

Once the listed rows are fixed, check the file again; the checker also looks for every other problem Shopify documents, so you do not trade one error for the next.
