WooCommerce product CSV checker

Drop the CSV you plan to import into WooCommerce under Products, Import. The checker checks every row against the rules in WooCommerce's import code and lists the rows and columns it would reject, skip or import differently from what the file says, each with a fix.

WooCommerce product import

The product CSV you are about to import into WooCommerce (Products, Import), or the one that just failed.

Your file stays on this device

It is read and converted by this page, inside your browser. Nothing from the file is uploaded, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

WooCommerce import errors it finds

Also checked

  • Rows whose cell count does not match the header, and quotes that never close.
  • A leading apostrophe before = + - or @ in names, descriptions, categories and images, which WooCommerce keeps.
  • Prices with currency symbols, which WooCommerce strips.

Not checked

  • SKUs and IDs already in your store (only repeats inside the file).
  • Whether each image link actually downloads (WooCommerce reports a failed download as "Error getting remote image").
  • Your server's upload size limit and import time limit.
  • Plugin columns, and whether a plugin product type (such as bundle) exists on your store; those show as a warning.

Questions

What does the checker look at?
The file type, encoding and header row, and every row: product types, SKUs and IDs, variations and their parents, attributes, visibility, tax status, published status, stock, backorders, prices and image values. Each rule comes from WooCommerce's own import code, and the sources are listed below.
If the check passes, will the import work?
It removes the problems that can be seen in the file. WooCommerce can still skip rows because of products already in your store (for example a SKU that is already used), images that fail to download, or your server's upload limit. Import a few products first.
Was this tested on a live WooCommerce store?
The rules were read from WooCommerce 11.2.2's import code, not tested on a live store. Where the code does not make the result certain, the checker says so next to the problem.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The page reads the file with your browser and converts it there. The only thing the site records is an anonymous count: which converter was used, a rough row count, and whether it worked. The privacy page lists every field.
